Site Development Pause

There has been some issues showing up behind the scenes for our coder, Sweetstuff, and further development for the site is on pause while they try to figure out solutions to the issues at hand. We request that you are patient in this time and enjoy the features we do currently have in the meantime where Sweetstuff is only one person  and can only humanly do so much! Error reports will still be tended to, we're just pausing on new features for a little bit is all.

Donation Shop 

Got any items you no longer want but don't want to sell or trade? You can now donate these very items to the community to claim and use to their hearts content! To donate, simply go to the item you no longer want in question, tick the box on it, open the "Donate Item" dropdown, and then finally click Donate! That's all! Each user can also claim up to one free item from the donation shop once every 24 hours. 
Pets that are not in your inventory cannot be donated just yet, however we are hoping to make this possible when we can resume site development!

Trait Info Update

We are very aware that our traits are really out-of-date and may be confuising for some users with this information being incorrect, so our lovely design moderator, Echoklang , will be going through and updating information on all the traits to get things organized once more. Please be patient as she works through these things over the next few days, but soon our traits will all have proper descriptions to correctly align with the current system.

ChaoChild 's DIscord game night will take place on April 20th at 3pm CST time! There will be reminders posted in the server when they're getting things ready and when the game is live! Be sure to keep an eye out to have some fun with what they have planned!

Prompt Reminders

A reminder to everyone that Discord and DeviantArt links do not work for prompt submissions any longer due to both sites changing the way their images are linked on external websites. You can still use Toyhouse and Stash to a degree, but we would highly prefer if users continued to use our on-site galleries for ease of access to staff members. 

Please also remember to add criteria to your submissions. There is a banner on the submissions page that mentions this, and every prompt has it as a requirement, We can only edit criteria forms from mod-side, and cannot add them from scratch. Please be weary of this to avoid your prompt being rejected!
Further, many users have been submitting art pieces alongside stories, which is perfectly fine, just please remember that any literary works must have a minimum of 1 character featured + 300 words at base, OR a colored halfbody Pacapillar/Snekket for art pieces. These are our base requirements for our Miscellaneous submissions, so anything less than these base requirements will not count towards extra rewards!

New Gallery Submission Layout

When submitting to the gallery, we noticed a lot of users were getting confused over the description and literature boxes where they were never really clear in the default layout, so  we've cleaned up the submission page to now show the title, description, content warning, and other user inclusion  at the top, and the image, literature, and character sections are now at the bottom before the submit button. With the encouragement of submitting to the galleries nowadays, we hope this new layout makes the process much simpler!

Item Sub-Categories

With the growing selection of collectables, we wanted a way to keep things more organized until we can split collectables off into their own thing, so in the meantime we've added item sub-catergories. This, unfortunately, does not affect how items are displayed on your profile, however in the Encyclopedia you can see what items belong to what categories, HERE!

🥚 Eggs Giving (Parts 3 + 4) 🌸
March 1st, 2024 - April 30th, 2024

After the confusing events of March only for Sachet to not really be much of a help, Monet is finally home from vacation. so you go and have a chat with him to get any information you can about Snekkets, however your glistening egg has hatched already! Hopefully Monet is able to help you before too much chaos ensues  with your new Snekket hatchling!

This event will feature 5 prompts in total; 4 of which you will need to complete to unlock the next part of the story, and one that you can do in both March and April! March will release parts 1 and 2, and April will release parts 3 and 4. Parts 1 and 2 will NOT expire on March 31st, instead running in to April so anyone who missed the March half can still participate in unlocking parts of the story. Completion of part 1 will unlock part 2, and the same will be said for parts 3 and 4, requiring completion of the other parts prior to  unlocking the next part. All of these prompts will require a complex background OR 1000 words, so please make sure to not push your parts completion until last minute so you have time to do all 4!
These story-based prompts will put usage to our interactive dialogues feature!
The smaller prompt that you can do in both March and April requires just 2 fullbodies (one snekket, and one paca), and is much more lenient than the story prompts!
Anyone who completes part 1 will be given a surprise basket that has an account-bound snekket MYO inside! If you've ever wanted a Snekket, but couldn't use the Cash Shop for any reason, now's your chance to get yourself your very own noodle!

It's April Fools! That means it's time to play a prank on your friends and loved ones! With this flash prompt, you have one week to create a piece of your Pacapillar or Snekket pulling a prank on someone else! Everyone who completes this prompt will be entered into a free raffle for a very detailed poison Pacapillar design by TornPages , and though the raffle is random, every user who participates in the prompt will get a randomized Silly Little Friend that has a playful theme to them!

Discord + Deviantart Linking

If you have been following other closed species groups, you may be aware of a new issue that has arisen ; Discord and DeviantArt no longer allow for image linking to external websites, and though Discord has a timer for 24-48 hours before their links are inaccessable, DeviantArt, unfortunately, seems to have their links inaccessible almost immediately. This has proven to be annoying to deal with both as someone to submit prompts, and to those of us on staff who rely on these websites for a lot of our images. Due to this update, many of our on-site images will be broken until further notice. We need to track down all the files we had and add them back to the site in a different way, and we are asking that you please remain patient with us during this time while we get everything fixed.

Alongside this, users prompt submissions from these links also will be affected, so we are asking that any users who rely on DeviantArt and Discord linking for their prompt submissions to please migrate to using our on-site galleries found HERE. This will ensure your links are safe and staff can view them easily.
To our knowledge, Toyhouse, Imagur, and other sites still work for now, but just to be safe in case any other sites follow, we are requesting that submissions are posted to the galleries.

We have added warning banners to the top of the prompt submission page to remind anyone of this issue before they submit.

Game Nights Return!

Our newest Discord mod, ChaoChild has been making plans to bring lots of fun back into the community! They have been working steady to have some games lined up for everyone to participate in! Upcoming for March, they will be hosting a game of Franken Paca on March 9th at 3pm CST. A Discord-based game night will be hosted March 16th at 3pm CST as well. Be sure to join our Discord server and pick up the Game Night role in the #directory channel to get pinged whenever a fun game is being played!

Discord Rule Updates

Due to the large amount of insincere complements art pieces have been getting, we have updated our Discord server rules to try and fix this issue. All users must now say at least two things nice about the piece above them before posting their own work. It's not cool to put time into a piece, only to get posted over by someone who doesn't seem to care; be kind. Encourage people's art journey, everyone starts somewhere afterall. 

We also would like to remind the community that 18+ species may not be advertised in our server. Our community is 13+, and we would rather keep those kinds of things out of our spaces. If you would like to trade something from an adult-orientated species, simply mention something along the lines of "check mutual servers" or "please DM me for other species  I'm interested in."

Minor Submission Page Edits

With a large number of users forgetting their criteria rewards when submitting their pieces,  we've added a banner to the submission page, as well as highlighted the "Please add the proper criteria to your submission" part of the standard prompt rules in red to emphasize the need to include criteria in your submission. We also have made the "+ Criteria" button a solid color so that it stands out easier on the submission page from all the other outline buttons. 

Staff can not add criteria forms to submitted prompts, but instead we can only edit user-filled out forms. Please remember to include your criteria to get your full rewards for your submission, especially if you are prone to last-minute submissions with little time to resubmit if needed.

Prompt Edits

• We've changed the layout of prompts to no longer have everything hidden behind spoiler boxes. Everything is now put in boxes directly visible to anyone clicking on "More Details"  so that everyone can check  the requirements much quicker.
• Now only prompts with bonuses or key notes have the "Extras" section. No longer will you have to wonder "Is there actually extras to this prompt or not?" If the Extras section is there, then there are extras to keep note of!
• All prompts now feature a new General Requirement that permits you to  create crafts instead of standard art pieces or writing submissions. This has always been permitted, however it was well-requested by the community to include this, so we hear you guys! Prompts are now much clearer on this feature!
• NEW unlockable prompts: Thanks to our coder and moderator, Sweetstuff , we can now set prompts to require another prompt before you unlock another. This means you can properly complete the Sowing Friendship prompt in order before Barn Pursuit or Coop Miracle to properly unlock the farm. We plan to utilize this feature in the future with some events as well as further ARPG prompts.
  
  

Pronouns

You can now have your pronouns displayed on your profile, making it easier for everyone to address you! Your pronouns will display underneath your username on your profile, and beside your username in comments! To add these to your profile, simply fill out the new box in your settings page! (Pronouns are custom input, so they are not limited to a list of designated pronouns, and you can instead set whatever you're most comfortable with!)

All over Crysalopolis, mysterious gift baskets are showing up without warning on Pacas' doorsteps containing Glistening Eggs among the contents! No one has stated that they are the one leaving these gifts around, but Pacas everywhere are confused as to why they were chosen to be given a snekket egg. While some Pacas are hopeful to raise the eggs into hatching to become a Snekket to match their own appearance, some eggs have hatched early, pairing Pacas with baby Snekkets that look nothing like them! While some are quick to just accept things the way they are, others want to get to the bottom of things and find information to who would go around Crysalopolis and just leave baby Snekkets on strangers doorsteps for just anyone to raise. Luckily the baskets come with some very basic  things to tend to Snekket needs!

They will primarily be watching over the Discord Server and will help us in getting some things in there checked more regularly, such as the DTPAY minigame. Please be patient with them while they are still in training!

Boreal Wishes has officially come to a close for this year! We hope you had fun with this little Christmas + New Year's combined event. The event shop will remain open for 1 week so be sure to get all your snow crystals spent! Once the shop closes, we will reset everyone's balance for next year's round. We are looking to improve on events and make them engaging and fun for users, so if you have any feedback about the Boreal Wishes event, please feel free to share your thoughts either in the suggestions channel in the Discord Server, or in our feedback form  found under the "Help" section of the site here (You have the option to stay anonymous on the feedback form if you would like.)

💖 Corewarming 💖
February 1st, 2024 - February 29th, 2024

Love is being felt all across Chrysalopolis ,and Pacas and Snekkets can't help but share the love with one another! Whether it's directed at their friends, a crush, or even a partner, everyone has someone they care about! The former classic prompt, "Core Hunt!" has made a comeback and has had a little bit of revision to make it more adapted to our modern prompt system. Coming along with it are two new Corewarming prompts, "Corewarming Cards" and "Feel The Love!". There will be no event currency or event shop this month where the event is smaller than our Halloween and winter holiday events, and there will not be a breeding event this year as we are still trying to figure out a way to organize it better than we had in the past, we do know it is a popular demand though, so fingers crossed we can have it again in the future!

L.E.A.F. Tour
February 1st, 2024 - February 29th, 2024

L.E.A.F. Is officially on tour! Along with them, they are bringing 2 new prompts to participate in and get their collectable items, "L.E.A.F. Tour" and "Merch Drop"! Including the concert tickets that were only available as a free gift last month, there are 9 L.E.A.F. collectables in total to get! Will you be able to collect them all?
These prompts will repeat yearly during random months! This year, the tour is around for February, May, and September! Don't worry if you aren't able to collect all the items in one go though! You can always trade with other members of our community in the site-trading channel in the Discord Server!

With the updates of criteria rewards being added, as well as the gift art notification feature, a popular request we've gotten is to make the Character of the Month prompt much more rewarding and engaging to encourage people to draw and write about the month's feature, and we just want you all to know that we hear your suggestions! Now, when you are submitting a prompt, you will have a switch option  that you can activate that will reward you 1000 bonus leaflets if you include the Character of the Month in your piece. You will still need to do the base prompt to be entered into the raffle to have the chance at your own character getting featured, but we hope with this bonus being implemented that it will encourage people to make lovely pieces of the featured character more often!

Next up, our seasonal prompts, Harvest the Best, Winter Cheers, Spring Party, and Beach Party have officialy been retired. We hope you all enjoyed these prompts in their run, but to make things easier for everyone, these prompts will be replaced with new seasonal prompts that have the same submission requirements as Autumn is Here, Cup of Warmth, Spring Flowers, and Heat Wave. Of course you are still 100% allowed to include 4 or more pacapillars/snekkets in your piece, but it will no longer be required to get both seasonal prompts completed. Our first of these new prompts to show up is the new winter seasonal, The First Snowfall! 

If you ever have suggestions for improvement of the species, we are keeping tabs on them more than ever, hoping to make things better for everyone overall. You can submit feedback and suggestions either in our Discord server in the #suggestion-box channel  or you can submit privately and/or anonymously through our Feedback Form found under our "Help" dropdown in the navigation bar on-site here!

Coming soon to theatres near you

Though December was very busy for everyone, we want everyone to know that despite activity picking up again, we are still tirelessly working on new features, events, and activities for everyone to participate in. We've been super happy about the engagement so far from all our updates, and we're hoping to push that activity further.

• As mentioned in last month's newsletter, NPCs will soon each have their own little ARPG prompts similar to the three existing farming prompts. We are still working out the finer details, but we know you guys love the NPCs just as much as us, and we really hope to encourage people into playing with them more often!
• Collections have their own custom organization in the works. We are still trying to figure out how to execute this in a way that is both easy to work with on user and mod sides, all while being easy on the eyes. We have yet to fully decide if we are going to be using an existing extension, or if we are going to create something completely new and custom to pacapillars, but in summary, your little collectables will only be compiled in one little ugly inventory section all mixed together for just a little bit. When we have finished with a collection feature to the site, we will make it so everything is sorted into their respective collection accordingly.
• Visual guides are closer than ever! We know this has been teased for... well, years, but we will just be cleaning up some loose ends over the next little bit, and we're hoping to get the guides publicly accessable sooner rather than later. We understand users getting frustrated over the wait, it is important information everyone needs to know after all, but it shouldn't be more than a couple months now if luck is on our side!
• We almost have a full run of reoccurring events to take place through every month of the year. We wont give too many details for planned events yet as to keep things a surprise, but we have been learning from past events what people like, and what they don't like, so we are hoping to keep these events fun for everyone. Themes for each reoccurring event will change anually, but if you ever have ideas for event themes, feel free to send us a suggestion in our discord server or in our feedback form (details about leaving feedback can be found in the above "Updates" section of this newsletter!)
• Over the next few days, you can expect to see a new little comment in prompts mentioning that you can create crafts for the prompt in question! We saw how much everyone loved making crafts for Halloween, so we just wanted everyone to know that crafting is always an alternative option to most prompts so long as you still follow the base requirements to the best of your ability.
• The toyhouse world and shelter storage are going to be facing a small face lift as far as their main page layouts. I, ( TornPages ), must admit, my old codes for either one of those are a bit clunky and hard to work with, making them rather unfavorable to edit on a regular basis. My goal is to keep the basic information provided on the main pages, all while trying to make the overall layout look cleaner and making it a million times easier to edit from our side. 

Boreal Wishes

Boreal wishes is still ongoing for the month of January! The December prompts have rotated out, and now some fresh prompts surrounding the event have released for the duration of January. L.E.A.F. Tour
~Check in next month for dates~

Our NPC singing group, L.E.A.F. are going on tour! They will be visiting Chrysalopolis at random times serving as a pop-up prompt of sorts. The event will have the duration of 1 month during their specified tour months. Rumor has it you will see them making their first appearance in February, but for now you better head on over to Free Gifts to claim your concert tickets so you can see them live when they are in town! In the meantime while we wait for their tour to go live, why not show us some love for your favorite L.E.A.F. member in one of your prompt submissions? (you can click on their individual little images to be taken to their masterlist entry!)

Big thank you to our moderator, Sweetstuff for their ongoing coding work on the site! Some of you may have noticed some of the new features they have added already, but in case you missed it, here's what's new:

• Character Folders: You can now put your characters into custom folders! To do this, simply go to "My Characters" under the "Home" dropdown in the navigation bar and create folders, assigning your characters to them. If you wish to sort your folders, all you need to do is click and drag your characters; the folders undeneath your characters will determine which order your folders are in on your profile. Remember to hit "Save Order" at the bottom of the page to keep your progress!
• Profile Feature: Following the folders, in the same page at the very bottom you will see a new section labeled "Selected Character". Choose one of your characters from the dropdown and hit "Submit" to have one specific paca featured on your profile next to your bank and inventory.
• Gift Art Notifications: You can now be notified for any time someone includes your characters in a submission, and in turn, notify others when you include their characters in a piece. In the submission menu when you add a character in, if the character does not belong to you, there will be an option to "Notify User". Selecting "No" will not notify the owner of the art/writing, but selecting "Yes" will notify the owner of the character that you included them in your piece
• Criteria Rewards: You will now get bonus leaflets for every prompt you submit! All you need to do is click on the new button in the submission page, "+ Criteria", and select the options that apply to your piece. Remember to add these to every submission! Mods can only edit filled out criteria, and we cannot add any to a submission that doesn't have any in the first place!
• NPC Dialogues: NPCs are silent no longer! We've installed a new feature that will let you read through NPC talking, narration, and even some lore in a style similar to virtual novels!
• Birthday Rewards: Now on the first of every month, any user who has a birthday during that month will automatically get a birthday gift delivered into their inventory. Open the box to get 2,500 , 3 , and a special super rare birthday-exclusive pet designed by our lovely Nokkelborth !
  NOTE: You must have your birth month set visible to logged in users at the minimum for the system to detect your birthday and give you your gift on rollover!

Leaflet + Shop rebalance

We've very recently had a major update regarding the balancing of the leaflet economy, as well as making things more accessable in shops to users. In this update, you will notice:

• User, shop, and prompt payout leaflet values have all been multiplied by 10
• You can now get anywhere from 10 to 300 from Monet's Daily Roll!
• Farm crops now yield 3x their original selling prices, and Coop / Barn produce now yield 4x their orignal selling prices
• Coop and Barn animals can now be purchased at Darling's Market for 100 instead of 2,500  , making it easier to fill up your farm slots!
• Elixirs and MYO Cores for already-owners have been added to Barrie's Berry Shop, and the Rare MYO Bundle has been removed. The already-owner MYO Core will reset once a month and isn't static to one-time-only!
• Oleras that can be purchased with leaflets have lowered from 4 on resetting stock to 2
• Dubious Berries, Forbidden Berries, and Olera Berries have increased slightly in price from 35,000 to 45,000 for Dubious berries, 60,000 to 75,000 for Forbidden Berries, and 14,000 to 25,000 for Olera Berries
• Commeli Berries, Salix Berries, Minmites, and Whirs have also all been reduced in prices from 2,500 to 1,000 for Commeli Berries, 4,500 to 2,500 for Salix Berries, and 2,500 to 1,500 for Minmites and Whirs
• Subspecies berries have been added to the Cash Shop! Dubious Berries are available for $120, and Forbidden Berries are available for $200
• Wonderous Gifts bought from the Cash Shop now allow you to select what item you get from it!

 

Prompts 

With the addition of Criteria Rewards, our prompts have seen some big changes as well, and we still plan to improve prompts further!

• Minmites and Whirs have retired from being add-on bonuses, and are now classified as regular pets. All existing Minmites and Whirs have been converted into boxes that you can open to get a pet version of them, name them, and attach them to your characters!
• Shading is no longer required for submissions, but instead counts as an extra you can do!
• All prompts (with the exception of improvement and ARPG prompts) can now be commissioned, and no longer just Self Portrait and A Lovely Gift. Just state that the piece was commissioned in your criteria by turning the "Commissioned Piece" switch on; you will not get the full bonus rewards that you would by creating a piece yourself, instead getting a portion of that amount (You will still recieve the full base-rewards of the prompt!) You may not submit artwork that you were paid (money, site currency, pets or item trades) to do. 
• Winter Cheers, Spring Party, Beach Party, and Harvest the Best are retiring from prompts! Instead, we will now feature a new prompt similar to their simpler variants, Cup of Warmth, Spring Flowers, Heat Wave, and Autumn is Here when they are rolled over. Seasonal prompts roll over from autumn to winter on December 21st, so be sure to get any Harvest the Best submissions in before then, because next year it will be replaced!
• We have added a new "Miscellaneous Pacapillar Submissions"  prompt that you can submit an unlimited amount of time for any pacapillar pieces that do not apply to other existing prompts.
• Events with prompts are going to become a more regular thing. We loved seeing the love the Mirage Festival and Soulbloom Feast got, and we have no plans at stopping just there!
• We are trying to bring more life into our beloved NPCs again, and are in the works of planning special ARPG prompts where you can interract with the NPCs and get special rewards for completion. Stay tuned for further information!

 

Boreal Wishes
December 1st, 2023 - January 31st, 2024

As winter rolls into season, Chrysalopolis drifts into the north, causing the floating city to become rather cold, snow even falling from clouds higher than the city and creating a frigid, yet beautiful blanket of snow over the land. Pacas are starting to move indoors more where it's warm, often enjoying things like cuddling under a blanket with all their pets, or experimenting with different flavors of hot cocoa! The holiday season truly nears however pacas start to see stunning rainbow lights dance across the night sky, marking the start of Boreal Wishes, a season in which pacas gather together and put aside their differences, often giving gifts to each other to celebrate, and throwing huge parties in the middle of the season to ring in the new year. The Boreal Wishes season is most certainly the most joyous time of all.
