Oh, so tired. [Art + Literature]

Skye trotted along the edge of the town towards his burrow that he shared with Gibby. His pet buncles had started to run low on food and he needed to stock up before he officially ran out. His pouch tug at his back a little more than usual with the extra weight added. It wasn’t a long trek back and once he arrived he shimmed his way into the hole. Each of his three buncles excitedly circled around him as he entered. Terra, his earth buncle, pressed its nose against the outer layer of his pouch before backing up a little bit to squeak at Skye.

Skye chuckled and then headed towards the kitchen area where he had tiny pet bowls ready. Each bowl was colored after the type of buncle it was for. He had a green one for wind, a blue one for water, and a brown one for earth. However, his eyes lingered on the red one. He hoped to one day find a fire buncle. Their red fur with the golden accents was so pretty. It gave him a feeling that it reminded him of something but he couldn’t place his nub on what it was.

A squeak from his buncles caught his attention. They looked at him with big round eyes trying to express that they were oh so hungry. He smiled and placed their bowls, and didn’t take long to pull out the almost empty pouch of pet food to pour into their small bowls.

As the pack of buncles ate Skye made his way over to Gibby’s section of the burrow. He popped his head into his room and looked around. The lack of the other pacapillars presence told him that his burrowmate was likely at work at the circus. The blue punch Gibby owned made a deep buzzing noise that made Skye’s head feelers twitch. He gave it a small pat on the head and then turned around and started to head towards the exit of the den.

The pacapillar used his head feelers to block the sun from immediately blinding him as he began to resurface. He looked around briefly as he thought of what to do today. He hummed as he thought; his eyes glided around the surrounding area before they fixated on the tree lines of the nearby woods. It’s been a while since he’s seem Grimm stalking around the woods so he decided to go see if he had gotten up to anything.

Skye waved goodbye to his buncle as they poked their heads out to look at him. He always opted to leave them home when he planned to go into the woods since he didn’t want a chance to lose them with how small they were. Then he began to head towards the woods. Considering it was the middle of the day Skye knew he should check the monster's den first to see if he was home. As he approached the territory that Grimm claimed he noticed small remains of a shattered core off to the side of the entry of the den. Skye grimaced, internally blaming himself. He wasn’t able to save that pacapillars life. He took a moment to walk over to it and dug a small hole. Once he determined it to be deep enough he gently moved the core shards into the hole and then buried them. He smoothed out the dirt carefully and then stepped back.

A squealing noise broke his focus and he whipped his head toward the direction of the noise. He crept near the cave entrance and peered inside. The sight he was greeted with was Grimm lying face down on the floor as Dagger ran around the cave. He cocked an eyebrow when he noticed three new pets within the home. A poochy, a quesito, and a fosh. He watched the fosh pull it’s body across the ground to get away from Dagger. He watched as the quesito seemed to hide behind Grimm’s leg with something wet coating it’s body. The poochy stood from a distance as the fosh flung itself over Grimm’s body and Skye had to hold back a laugh. The squacky that had attached itself to Dagger gave an annoyed squeak when the fosh and hyper snekket almost landed on top of it.

Skye decided to invite himself into the den. He watched Dagger whip around to run at him- tackling him to the ground and giving him wet, gross, sloppy kisses. He tried to push Dagger off but took notice at how much larger the snekket had grown in the past couple of weeks- not to mention the weight he now had. He batted gently at the snekket with his head feelers and it seemed to get his attention enough to push the excited creature off of him. He went back to harassing the poor pets around the cave.

Skye regained his composure and used his head feelers to wipe the slobber off of his face before walking over stand in front of the monster pacapillar who hadn’t even moved since he’d seen him.

“How are you holding up?” Skye asked, the smile clear in his tone of voice.

Grimm slowly moved his head up to look at Skye, presenting the dark bags he had under his eye. Dagger came to stand next to Skye now that he was able to see Grimm’s face for the first time in a couple of hours. He went to lick the monster but was stopped by the large prehensile tail. It picked him up and set him on the other side of the den. “You said he would be on my sleep schedule,” the crystalized pacapillar complained.

“Well, I can’t know everything,” Skye chuckled, “hold on.” The dark green pacapillar moved around the monster and picked up the poochy, quesito and the fosh. He made his way to the entry of the cave and set them down, “Go on, you’re free now.”

All three of the pets left as fast as they could and Skye had to quickly grab Dagger as he tried to chase after them. “Ah- ah! No. Leave it.”

Dagger whined and pouted before sulking back into the den. Though, it didn’t last long as he attempted to try and get Grimm to play with him. Skye walked back over, grabbing the collar and leash that seemed to have been collecting dust since he helped Grimm bring the items home. “I’ll take him on a walk and see if that helps with his energy. Sound good?”

When he didn’t get a response he turned to look at Grimm only to notice that the monster had fallen asleep already. He rolled his eyes as he attached the leash and collar to the snekket. However, Dagger immediately began running once the leash was officially attached and took Skye for a nice little joy run.
