Juniper stared at the map on her desk, brows furrowed as she glanced at the corkboard in front of her. She sat on the stool and crossed her fins, deep in thought. Where was she going for her next adventure? Had she heard any rumors about anything new in the taverns she had visited so far? She hummed softly to herself, eyes closed as thoughts shifted through her mind.

Brine on the other hand, was zooming around the house, tossing squeaky toys in the air and catching them before tossing them again while occasionally jumping off furniture and high places and gliding back to the ground, claws clacking on the ground as he took off running after perfectly landing.

“Hey Brine, can you come here for a minute?!” Juniper called, catching the Snekket’s attention.

Brine dropped the squeaky toy he currently had in his mouth and made his way towards the room, peeking around the corner and blinking slowly and making a loud hissing sound, his tongue jutting out of his mouth as he tasted the air for a moment before he blepped.

Juniper turned around on the stool and stared at her companion, “I need your help picking where we should go for our next adventure.” She says, rubbing the back of her head. “I don’t think we heard any new rumors of treasure in a while but there has to be something interesting out there. I just don’t know what.” She adds, sighing softly.

Brine blinks at Juniper a few times, his tail swishing behind him for a second before he suddenly bolts out of the room, seeming to leave the house for a few minutes before returning with a sheet of paper that looked like a flyer for something and setting it on the table and placing his paw on it, puffing up his chest.

Juniper’s eyebrow rose as she watched Brine place the paper on the table. Looking it over she hums, “An Eggsgiving Hunt? Really?” She asked, staring at her companion skeptically. She had expected Brine to come back with a treasure map or maybe some kind of bulletin about a request.

Brine nodded then patted the flyer again, giving Juniper his biggest puppy eyes possible as his tail wagged behind him, before flying around Juniper slowly and laying his head on hers and gazing down at her with that same puppy eyed expression, glancing at the paper again.

Juniper sighed, “Alright, alright! Stop with the puppy eyes! We’ll do the Eggsgiving hunt.” She says, crossing her flippers and glancing at the flyer. “Maybe it’ll be fun. We kind of need a break from dangerous adventures anyway, huh?”

Brine nodded enthusiastically and gently wrapped his tail around Juniper’s tail in a hug, gently tugging on it and pointing at the door. He was ready and raring to go!

Juniper sighed softly then laughed, sliding off the stool and moving towards Brine to pat his head. “Okay okay, you lead the way. I’ll be right behind you.” She says, letting Brine lead her out of the house.

“Welcome everyone to the Chrysalopolis Eggsgiving Hunt!” A Pacapillar exclaimed as they stood behind the podium and threw their arms in the air. “I’m so glad there are a lot of you here today, I see a few Snekkets as well.” They said, placing their paw over their eyes and scanning the crowd. “Your goal is to find as many berries as possible and put them in your baskets. Once your 35 minute time limit is up, return back here and hand in your basket so we can count them and the Pacapillar with the most berries will win the grand prize!” They announced, as another Pacapillar pushed a small treasure chest to the front of the podium.

“How will we know when time’s up?!” A Pacapillar in the crowd asked.

“I was just getting to that. You’ll know when time’s up when you hear the gong.” The Paca behind the podium explained, pointing at the gong that was a few feet away. “By the way, all of the berries will be hidden close by so you don’t have to go too far.” They added. “Now, on your marks, get set, go!” They exclaimed, as the Pacapillar who pushed the treasure chest banged on the gong.

“Come on Brine, I bet we can find all of them in no time.” Juniper said confidently before racing off through Chrysalpolis square, Brine following behind her and sniffing out any possible berries.

The first place the pair looked was in a few nearby alleyways, but not finding any. The two looked at each other and frowned, “Huh, I was sure they’d hide at least a few in here.” Juniper says, making sure she hadn’t missed any nooks and crannies.

Brine lifted his head into the air, sticking his tongue out before making his way out of the alleyway and towards a nearby park with Juniper following close behind him. Entering the park, Brine made his way to a pair of bushes and nudged one from under it, towards Juniper.

“Good job, Brine!” Juniper praised, patting the Snekket’s head. “I wonder if there’s more around here.” She says, looking around before her eyes locked on a Pacapillar statue in the square. “I think I might know where another one is.” She says, grinning before making her way towards the statue and looking behind it. “Aha! I found one!” Brine exclaimed, holding up the berry before putting it in her basket.

As Juniper and Brine were searching for more berries, the sound of the gong caught their attention. “Looks like it’s time to head back. Do you think we won?” Juniper asked, looking at her basket.

Brine stared at the basket then nodded vigorously, puffing up his chest proudly.

Juniper laughed, “You’re right. I know we got enough. Let’s go see what the prize is.” She says, heading towards the square with the other participants.

“Welcome back everyone! Please line up and tell us your name, then place your baskets on this table one by one then give us a few minutes to count them before we announce the winner.” The Pacapillar said as another followed. After a while, the announcer returned to the podium. “The winner of the Eggsgiving Hunt this year is…Juniper and her Snekket Brine! Come get your prize!”

The crowd erupted into cheers as Juniper and Brine made their way over to the treasure chest, where they were given a key by the other Pacapillar. Upon opening the chest they found it full of gems.

Juniper’s eyes lit up and a broad smile formed on her face. “Wow!” She exclaimed, her tail swaying behind her.

Brine stared into the treasure chest then buried his head inside of it before pulling it back out, his tail wagging happily.
