Pip blinked at the strange creature standing before him, just as the strange creature before him blinked and stared back at him. The two remained in their silent standstill for a long few moments before Pip’s mouth curved into the smallest hint of a smile, the same motion reflected across the face of the creature.
Head tilting to one side the Pacapillar studied it more closely as they mimicked him. His navy blue eyes took in the equally dark blue of the creature’s body, roving over the sparkles and small flashes of color that covered them to the multi-hued eyes and the long pointed horn.
He was positive that the creature was taking in his fluffy white appearance with his orange bat-like head feelers and tail feelers. Pip couldn’t decide if he was sizing the creature up, or if the creature was sizing him up. Perhaps a bit of both in the long run. (A thought that made him chuckle inwardly. He didn’t dare laugh out loud on the off chance it would spook the creature.)
Their silence was broken by a low growl that made the strange creature blush a little - or maybe blush? It was hard to tell for Pip - and this time he couldn’t help but laugh.
“You seem to be hungry, my friend.”
The creature hesitated a moment before nodding, looking down at their claws with a tail coming to tuck around them.
Slowly Pip shifted, going to rummage around in the small bag he’d been carrying to pull out a few hand pies and a hunk of cheese. Carefully he set them before the creature who hesitated only a moment, eyes warily watching him before they lunged and began to scarf down the food presented before them.
“There we go. If you were hungry you should have told me from the beginning. Go on, eat up. I have more food if that’s still not enough for you.”
The creature paused, looking up at him while partway through the hunk of cheese. Slowly their tail began to wag before they once again went back to eating - though more slowly this time and without as much of the feral hunger as before.
Pip smiled slightly, settling back to watch them eat while he pulled an apple out of his bag for himself. He hadn’t planned on using up all his food but… Well, sometimes life threw things at you unexpectedly and you had to adapt.
Besides, something told him that this creature was rare and that he’d been blessed by a visit. Who was he to deny them a meal when he has the ability to feed them?
